Cynthia Maxwell Curtin began her career in the San Francisco office of Littler Mendelson\u2014the premier international labor and employment firm. She earned the honor of early elevation to shareholder in 1990. Ms. Curtin and another partner opened the firm\u2019s Oakland, California office in 1994.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1998, Ms. Curtin started Independent Employment Counsel, LLP (\u201cIEC\u201d) with Gary P. Scholick, Esq. IEC specialized in independent neutral investigations as required under Titles IX, VII, VI, the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended (\u201cADA\u201d)) and other state and federal anti-discrimination and anti-retaliation laws. She also conducted hundreds of seminars regarding employment and discrimination laws. She was retained as an expert witness in numerous cases to testify regarding the adequacy of an employer\u2019s response to allegations of harassment and\/or other forms of discrimination.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2012, Ms. Curtin brought her years of experience and expertise to Syracuse University. As the Chief Equal Opportunity, Inclusion and Resolution Officer and the Title IX Coordinator and the interim Sections 503\/504 and ADA Coordinator, she conducted or supervised hundreds of investigations, gave hundreds of seminars and led the University\u2019s related compliance efforts. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2015, Ms. Curtin joined Curtin & DeJoseph. As an attorney licensed only in California, her affiliation with a New York firm allows her to bring her experience and expertise to New York clients while continuing to serve her clients in California.
